Located next to the Hungarian State Opera House in central Budapest, above the original Callas Cafe – designed by David Collins Studio in 2006 – Callas House offers 25 boutique bedrooms across the third and fourth floors of the 19th-century neo-Renaissance building. Opened in January 2017, the overarching concept for the rooms was to create a mood that is simple and comfortable yet elegant and refined, with subtle nods to the city’s art nouveau and art deco architecture. The colour palette is monochromatic with teal accents and marble surfaces, brass fittings and mosaic detail including original iridescent tiles. All furniture is custom made, taking inspiration from Hungarian architectural vernacular, designed by David Collins Studio and made locally.
